Back to The Roots: AMAHORO INTERNATIONAL is Coming Home
August 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
In collaboration with Amahoro International, Community Awareness Series will host a cultural arts presentation and an educational forum on AMI’s work.
Amahoro International was founded by international recording artist George Makinto and social advocate Mukarabe Makinto-Inandava in 2000 in New York City and had its first administrative permit in New Jersey in 2001. Initially, AMI was created to advocate for AIDS orphans in Burundi and Burkina Faso and foster cultural exchange between African and African American communities. Since the founding of AMI in New Jersey, Amahoro International has successfully incorporated California as a non-profit organization, has allowed hundreds of AID orphans to prosper in Burundi, and is currently running the AMAHORO LIFE CENTER in Uganda, empowering Burundian refugees to become future leaders in Africa.
