Happy Juneteenth Craft Distribution

June 11 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

Come and visit the Marion Branch Library to borrow books, sign up for a library card, access any library services, and receive a Juneteenth Craft to do at home to celebrate and learn about Juneteenth.

Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday (History.com).

Limited supplies are on a first come, first served basis. This will be a daily offering at the Marion Branch, we hope to see you there.

Dates: Tuesday June 1 – Thursday June 17, 2021
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Masks are required for all participants above the age of 2. Social distancing will be respected.
