Reflections of Juneteenth with Dr. Jason Hendrikson

Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is a celebration to commemorate African American freedom in the United States on June 19, 1865. Join Dr. Jason Hendrickson and Issac Green as they emphasize the meaning and history of Juneteenth.
Jason T. Hendrickson, Ph.D., is associate professor of English at LaGuardia Community College at the City University of New York. As a faculty member at one of the most culturally diverse institutions in the country, Dr. Hendrickson serves as the faculty chair of LaGuardia’s annual Black Lives Matter Summit, co-leads the Faculty and Staff of Color Collective (FSOC), and is a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (PAC). His scholarship and pedagogy combine literary analysis with contemporary issues of social justice to foster connections between the past and the present. He received his doctorate and master’s degree from the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at UMass Amherst and his bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
